I will start off by saying that Tony gets a 5 star rating. His instruction and attention to detail was fantastic. He was patient and took extra time to ensure we understood what was being taught. My wife and I both walked away with a better understanding of our swings and the game itself. Tony provided videos and instructions so we could continue to build on our new skills. My one negative takeaway was that there is no time for on course instruction. Based on the description of the program I believed there would be. I think most don’t get the chance play these caliber of courses and for the cost I would think it would be included with the package. Now we were fortunate enough to get to play 9 with Tony only due to a scheduling conflict but this was not the norm. The 9 holes on the course with Tony guiding us was just as if not more valuable than the rang time. This truly let us put into action the new skills we had learned. All in all a great experience and one I hope to be able to do again.

I attended VIP Golf Academy for two days at Somerby Golf Club, MN for two days of private instruction on 7/12 and 7/13/2026. My instructor was Tony Emma and the range area and course were all excellent. I have had both group lessons for three days with four people and private one hours lessons in the past, but this experience really helped my swing and technique. Tony was relentless in getting my swing path and club face correct but using various drills. We worked with all of the clubs on the range as well as in the sand and near the green with chipping and pitching techniques. We worked with putting drills on the green as well as reading the correct speed and direction of the ball to reach the cup. I highly recommend this event as I saw improvement immediately when returning to the courses near home. Tony followed up several days later with videos of my swing and revisiting the drills and tips we worked with for two days so the learning experience continues past the days in class.

I recently attended West Sharkey’s two-day golf academy, and it was an excellent experience. West is a knowledgeable and engaging instructor who has a real talent for explaining both the fundamentals and the finer points of the golf swing. What I appreciated most was that he didn’t just focus on what to change in my swing—he also taught me how to practice effectively so I can continue improving on my own. The practice techniques and drills he shared were practical, easy to understand, and immediately useful. In addition, West provided several flexibility exercises that have helped me improve my range of motion and better prepare my body for the golf swing. These tips alone added significant value to the program. I left the academy with a better understanding of my game, a clear plan for improvement, and greater confidence on the course. I would highly recommend West Sharkey’s academy to golfers of any skill level who are serious about improving their game.

AWESOME! VIP golf academy was a fantastic experience. The pace each day was perfect, lots of variety. Ron Applegate was extremely knowledgeable in all aspects of the game. He made small changes that we were able to manage! Looking forward to lower scores & more fun practicing!!!! Highly recommend this.

We thoroughly enjoyed our experience with VIP Golf and our instructor, Paula Thompson. Paula was patient, knowledgeable, and clearly conveyed the importance of the steps to improving our golf swing/game. She showed us drills, utilized training aids, and performed the steps to ensure we understood the desired outcome. She never made us feel bad for poor shots and celebrated with us when we did well. I cannot say enough about how much fun and the improvement we have made in a short period. Thank you to Megan DeSantis for helping to arrange our training and again to Paula for her wonderful instruction! Highly recommend!
